Samsung Galaxy A22 Launched in India: Price and Specifications

Samsung Galaxy A22 has been silently launched in India. This new Samsung smartphone comes with quad rear cameras, an AMOLED display, and 15W fast charging. The smartphone was launched in Europe in 4th June 2021, alongside the Galaxy A22 5G. The phone comes as the successor to the Galaxy A21 that debuted in the US in April 2020.

Samsung Galaxy A22 price in India starts at Rs 18,499 for the lone 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant and comes in Black and Mint colour options. The phone is available for purchase through Samsung India site. However, it is also likely to soon go on sale through other retail channels.

Notably, the pricing of Galaxy A22 in India is higher when compared with that of the Galaxy M32 that debuted in India in June this year at a starting price of Rs 14,999. The Galaxy M32, however, offers a list of upgrades, including a 6,000mAh battery and more megapixel count in the rear camera setup.

The Galaxy A22 was launched in Europe in three distinct configurations – 4GB + 64GB, 4GB + 128GB, and 6GB + 128GB. Some recent reports also claimed Samsung would also launch the Galaxy F22 in the India in the second week of July as a rebranded Galaxy A22.

The Samsung Galaxy A22 runs on Android 11-based One UI 3.1 Core. It features a 6.4-inch HD+ (720 x 1,600 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the phone packs an octa-core SoC, paired with 6GB of RAM. The Samsung Galaxy A22 has 128GB of onboard storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 1TB) through a dedicated slot.

There is the quad rear camera setup that houses a 48MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilisation (OIS). The other two camera sensors includes an 8MP ultra-wide camera, 2MP macro shooter, and a 2MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. For selfies and video calls, the Galaxy A22 features a 13MP camera sensor with an f/2.2 aperture.

Samsung Galaxy A22 packs a 5,000mAh battery that is claimed to deliver up to 38 hours of talk time on a 4G network. The phone also supports 15W Adaptive Fast Charging. Connectivity options onboard include 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS / A-GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light, gyroscope, magnetometer, and a proximity sensor. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Lastly, it measures 159.3 x 73.6 x 8.4mm and weighs 186 grams.
