Redmi K40 Gaming Edition was launched in China on April 27, 2020 and it is the latest addition in the Redmi K40 series. As the name suggests, this smartphone comes with dedicated gaming features like retractable shoulder buttons, Dolby Atmos support, three mics, and audio tuned by JBL, among others. The phone also comes with IP53 dust and water resistance.

Redmi K40 Gaming Edition price starts at CNY 1,999 (around Rs 23,000) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model, while the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at CNY 2,199 (around Rs 25,300). The price of 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant has been set at CNY 2,399 (around Rs 27,600), 12GB + 128GB priced at CNY 2,399, and finally the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model is priced at CNY 2,699 (around Rs 31,100).
It is offered in Black, Silver, White, and a Bruce Lee Special Edition colour options. The Bruce Lee Special Edition is only available in a 12GB + 256GB storage configuration and costs CNY 2,799 (around Rs 32,300).
The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will go on sale starting from April 30. As of now, there is no information about the international availability of this smartphone.

Redmi K40 Gaming Edition runs on Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 on top. It features a 6.67-inch FHD+ (1,080 x 2,400 pixels) OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate, 395ppi pixel density, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The display also has HDR10+ support.
Under the hood, the phone packs an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC, paired with Mali-G77 MC9 GPU, along with up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Talking about optics, Redmi K40 Gaming Edition comes with a triple rear camera setup that comprises a 64MP primary sensor with an f/1.65 lens, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 2MP macro sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. On the front, the phone has a 16MP camera sensor, housed in a centrally located hole-punch cutout.
This gaming phone is backed by a 5,065mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. This smartphone is also IP53 water and dust resistance. The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition features vapour chamber LiquidCool technology with white graphene to keep the phone cool under load.
It also comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The speakers of this handset have been tuned by JBL and it has an L-shaped USB Type-C connector. Connectivity options onboard include 5G, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. The phone is 8.3mm thick and weighs 205 grams.
