Subsequent betas will launch in July, then August, followed by the finished release probably in mid of September. After that all the eligible devices will be provided this new Android update. The Oneplus 7T and Oneplus 7T Pro will be the first non-Google device to hold Android 11 update.

Now its time to look at some exciting Android 11 features. So with talking anymore, let’s get straight to the Android 11 features.

1. Message Bubbles

The first exciting feature of Android 11 is message bubbles. This is a lot like Facebook Messenger’s bubbles feature.

So there is a dedicated conversation section. When you get a text or an email, these notifications will be grouped under this conversations section in the notification shape. I like is the ability to paste images in replies in the notification shade.

So basically with bubbles you will be able to get chat head support in apps like Google messages or basically any other messaging app that chooses to support this right now.

You can just go to an app’s notification settings and enable the bubbles option after which the apps notification will show up in a chat head. I’m hoping, apps like telegram and third-party SMS apps support this feature.

2. Scheduled Dark Theme

Android 11 will come with built-in option of scheduled dark theme. Means you can now schedule the dark mode to automatically turn on at sunset and turn off at sunrise. There’s even the option to set custom timings for this.

So yeah, you no longer need a third party after scheduled dark mode or stock Android. This feature is already available in iPhone’s and now android is also adopting this feature.

3. Security Features

This version isn’t Android is making things more stricter. So when an app prompts for the location permission on an Android 11 smartphone, it will grant location permission, when you are using that app and if you close that application, then that app will be unable to get location access. Apps that need access to location in the background will have to get google’s approval to get on the Play Store.

Not just the location permission, there’s even more limitations, you will be able to give apps temporary permission to your camera and microphone which I think is the right step. The 11th version of Android will block the apps that keep asking the same permissions again and again, and if you deny it twice or more.

4. Screen Recorder

This feature is already available in the custom UI skins, but this was missing in the stock android. But with this new Android update, you will get built-in option of screen recoding. In some apps you had to download third party apps to record your screen but if you have Android 11 update, you can use this feature without using a third party app.

There’s a toggle to enable screen recorder in the quick settings page and once you enable screen recording, it will start recording your screen agter 3 seconds.

5. Share Menu Pinning

Share Menu Pinning is an option for better user experience. For example, if you want to share a YouTube video on WhatsApp and to do this, you will click on share option. But sometimes the WhatsApp icon is way to down and with this share menu pinning option, you can pin the share menu. Means you can pin apps in a particular order on that menu.

6. Resigned Notifications

Now you can redesign the notifications on Android 11. Sometimes many notifications come at the same time and you are unable to find any important messages. In this new update, you can group apps on the basis of that app types. Means all messages apps like WhatsApp, telegram will remain in one group, gaming apps will remain in second group and email apps will remain in third group.

This feature will help you to remove clutter from your smartphone. This feature will also improve the ability of smart reply.

7. Recent App Screen

To implement this feature, there will be some minor UI changes like the thumbnail of recent apps will get bigger, you will get applications for quick use. The most highlighting option of this feature is undo option. For example: if you remove the app from recent app screen by mistake, you can bring it back by clicking on undo option.

8. Back Gestures Sensitivity

Back gesture is a feature by which you can swipe between apps by swiping left or right. This feature is already available in previous android versions. The the thing that was wrong with this feature is its sensitivity. Means sometimes, if you swipe left or right to use some inbuilt app feature, you are accidentally moved to next app but in Android 11 you can adjust the sensitivity to switch apps.

9. Screenshot

This feature is something like like IOS’s screenshot menu. If you take a screenshot on an Android 11 smartphone, you will get a quick menu option. You can edit, crop or adjust the size of screenshot. Another cool feature that is not confirmed is the ability to capture a long screen. This feature is already available in OneUI, in fact the majority features of this newer Android version is already available in Samsung’s OneUI.

10. Mute Notifications during recording

Imagine you are recording an awesome video of your surrounding or capturing a memorable family photo and suddenly a notification pops up, this is very very annoying. But not anymore, Android 11 gives you the option to mute all the notifications during video recording.

11. Other Minor Upgrades

Now apart from these features there are a lot of other minor changes here and they are the option to pin apps to the top in the share sheet. There’s an option in the developer options page to show the screen refresh rate all the time, if you are turning it on, it shows the refresh rate which fluctuates between 60 and 120.

Android 11 will implement the music player in quick settings like iOS Control Center. Apart from that, Android 11 can be updated individually for better support for curved, waterfall displays, displays with punch holes and foldables. A lot of other under-the-hood changes will also be implemented for better 5G support.

Conclusion: This android version is a major update which is equipped with some exciting features. Apart from this there are some other features that are not confirmed but as Android 11 will launch, I will update this list.
